In Kofu there is a place called Kofu castle. It's really more of a hill where a castle once was than an actual castle, but whatever. I was told that they light it up every winter with Christmas lights and wanted to see it. I was also told that this will be the last year they do it due to the cost. So, before leaving on the night bus to Kyoto, I had some time to kill in Kofu and decided to go see if the lights were up yet. And they were! It was really nice. My favorite displays were the blue light gate and the moving samurai/demon display (w/sound effects even!). It was the perfect way to get me all nostalgic for Christmas.
